Boise police are investigating what is being described as a possible officer involved shooting. One man was found dead inside a home at Gourley and Malad streets. Details are still preliminary, but according to a police department press release, officers were called to the home at 1:27 a.m. after dispatch say a man was using a crowbar to break out the front windows of a duplex.
The man was reportedly inside the house when officers arrived. According to the report, a Boise police officer tried to talk to the man when the suspect is said to have pointed a gun at another officer and fired.
Police have not released the name of the man who is dead, but say he is in his mid-20s and is believed to live in the duplex.
Residents of several nearby homes were evacuated immediately after the shooting to a school in the area. Police are still collecting evidence at the scene.
