The Ketchum City Council voted in favor of alternative wolf management. Ketchum Mayor, Nina Jonas, asked for the council’s support in adopting a resolution to support wildlife co-existence.
The Wood River Wolf Project encourages livestock ranchers to work with government agencies and The Defenders of Wildlife. They work to keep wolves away from livestock using non-lethal methods, such as guard dogs, sound devices, and flagging.
A number of attendees expressed their disdain for Idaho’s current methods of wolf management, including hunting and trapping. Wolf advocates hope to use the Ketchum resolution to encourage the State of Idaho to adopt alternative wolf management practices.
