ISIS In America?

Has ISIS come to America?  Disturbing tweets seem to have predicted the violence that happened last night in Garland, Texas.  (View the tweets here.)  Thankfully the two gunmen were killed by police.  Here are five quick facts courtesy of WFAA.

1. The ongoing threat was the possibility of a bomb in the suspects' car

Police were searching into the night for explosives in a vehicle. There was no confirmation that there was a bomb in the car, but police searched out of "precaution," Harn said.

Reports of three loud explosions came in overnight, but there has been no confirmation on whether a device was detonated.

2. The two gunmen were killed

Two men drove up to the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, got out of their car and shot at an unarmed Garland ISD police officer. Garland police officers shot and killed those suspects at the scene.

3. The shooting took place outside a Muhammad cartoon exhibit

A "free speech event" was being held at the Culwell Center. It was a contest in which artists were encouraged to depict the Prophet Muhammad. Approximately 200 people attended the event.

4. The Garland ISD officer is OK

Bruce Joiner, an eight-year veteran of Garland ISD's security staff, was shot in the leg. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition and was later released.

5. Businesses were evacuated, but people were safe

An Academy sports store near the Culwell Center and other businesses were evacuated in the aftermath of the shooting. It was initially reported that a man was inside a Walmart with a hand grenade, but that information was not confirmed to be true.
