Idaho Department of Lands officials say a fast growing grass fire north of Horseshoe Bend has burned down a barn and two other outbuildings, and about 25 homes are threatened.
The Timber Butte Fire, which began late Saturday afternoon in grass and sage and burned into timber had grown to 7,000 acres by Sunday night.
The fire is about 4 miles northeast of Sweet in both Boise and Gem counties. It is moving to the north. About 150 people fought the fire Sunday from the ground and air, as of now it's 0 percent contained.
The homes that are threatened are along Brownlee, Timber Butte and Liberty roads in Boise and Gem counties. No evacuation orders were issued before 7 p.m. Sunday but deputies from Gem and Boise counties are on standby to notify residents, should that change.
